|| The Laser-Laboratorium Göttingen has gained world-wide recognition with its research projects and developments in various fields of physics. Applied research and transfer of knowledge between research facilities and industry are successfully realized by its approximately 60 employees.
The Department of Short pulses / Nanostructures focuses on the micro- and nano-patterning of surfaces and thin films by short and ultrashort UV laser pulses. Our activities include the study of the dynamics of laser ablation, the direct writing of holographic security features, the surface functionalization of technologically important materials, and the fabrication of micro-optical devices.
To strengthen our team we invite applications for the study of
Laser Nanostructuring of Thin Films
PhD student (m/f) in physics
at the earliest date possible.
Your work will focus on experimental investigation of laser ablation patterning of thin films, microscopic and spectroscopic characterization, and related computer simulations. You are expected to attend conferences and publish your results in international journals.
You hold a Master of Science or equivalent degree in physics or a related field and you preferably have a strong background in optics, material physics or laser applications. You show a high degree of commitment and motivation as well as interest in application-oriented research. You have sufficient knowledge of the German language to communicate with local cooperation partners.
We are a highly motivated team working in a cutting-edge research area at the interface to engineering and materials science. We have extensive state-of-the-art equipment and are strongly connected to academic and industrial partners.
Your position will be paid in accordance with German EG 13 TV-L.
Applications of qualified female candidates are particularly welcome. Severely disabled persons with equal qualification and aptitude are given preferential consideration.
