Beschreibung: We are inviting applications for a PhD student position funded for 3 years to join the lab of Ulrich Maurer at the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Cell Research, University of Freiburg, Germany.

Research in the lab focuses on transcriptional and posttranslational mechanisms regulating cell death and survival. We have previously shown that the PI3K pathway, via the kinase GSK-3, controls the decision for the induction of apoptosis by p53. We found that GSK-3 regulates the acetyltransferase Tip60 and we will now address the role of this phosphorylation on a genome-wide level. This will include methods such as ChIP-seq and RNA-seq.
This DFG-funded project is part of a research training group (Graduiertenkolleg) which will provide a training both in both wet-laboratory and bioinformatics approaches.
We are seeking to recruit candidates with a strong background in molecular cell biology and/or biochemistry. Applicants should be highly motivated and should be interested in both cell biology as well as bioinformatics.
