The junior research group of Alexander Marchanka focuses on the development of solid-state NMR techniques for structural studies of RNA in large biomolecular complexes and actively works on the characterization of protein-RNA complexes in viral and bacterial systems by a plethora of modern magnetic resonance techniques (NMR, EPR) and complementary techniques (SAXS,EM).
The successful candidate will work on an interdisciplinary research project combining activities both in the wet lab (protein expression and purification, RNA synthesis) and in solid-state NMR and EPR spectroscopy.

The candidate should hold an excellent master degree and be highly motivated with a strong interest in (bio)chemistry and biophysics. Previous experience in biochemistry of proteins or RNA or experience in the field of magnetic resonance spectroscopy is of advantage.
The new established Center of Biomolecular Drug Research (BMWZ) at the University of Hannover offers an exciting and stimulating research environment. State-of-the art instrumentation includes high-field solution and solid-state NMR spectrometers operating at 850 MHz and 600 MHz. Access to ultra high-field NMR spectrometers is granted by collaborative research grants. Fully established protein- and RNA purification laboratories (FPLC,HPLC,MS) and a high performance computation cluster are available.
