Beschreibung: The recently discovered amoeba Planoprotostelium fungivorum feeds exclusively on fungi, including pathogens and filamentous species. Most Candida species serve as food sources, while a few others, like Candida glabrata, do not support growth of the amoeba. This project will address the molecular mechanisms which protect fungi against amoeba predation and how these could reflect different virulence strategies within the human host.
