Beschreibung: In the framework of the DFG Priority Program 1710 (Dynamics of thiol-based redox switches in cellular physiology) the Institute for Immunology, Core Facility for Mass Spectrometry of the University Medical Center Mainz (AG Prof. Stefan Tenzer) is hiring a

PhD Candidate (m/f) „Characterization of thiol switches controlled by the glutathione-S-transferase GDAP1“

Starting date: as soon as possible
Duration: 3 years
Salary: TV-L E13 (65%)

Your Tasks:
- method development for optimized chemical proteomics workflows
- identification of target proteins of the GST GDAP1 by quantitative chemical proteomics
- identification and characterization of the proteins contained in the GSSG-induced complex of MFN2 and GDAP1 by LC-MS
- bioinformatics analyses of GDAP1-interacting proteins to identify regulated pathways and molecular networks
- working in an interdisciplinary environment in close collaboration with other projects
of the DFG-PP1710
- participation in meetings, summer schools and training courses by the DFG-PP1710

Your ideal qualification:
- Master (M.Sc.) biology, biochemistry, chemistry, bioinformatics or equivalent education
- hands-on experience or profound knowledge of protein biochemistry
- excellent analytical and writing skills
- you are ambitious, self-motivated and have high team work capabilities
- excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
- experience with proteomics, LC-MS, data analysis and bioinformatics is a plus
- experience in scientific writing is an advantage
