Beschreibung: The PhD project, funded by the DFG, deals with the role of a family of pattern recognition receptors in innate immunity, the so-called C-type lectin receptors (CLRs), in infection with Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV). Based on the hypothesis that dysregulated CLR activation causes brain immunopathology and neurodegeneration, the project aims to analyze the effect of CLRs in the neuropathogenesis of TMEV infection in detail.
Methoden: For the available PhD position, we are seeking a creative and enthusiastic candidate that must have obtained a MSc or Diploma degree in Biology, Biochemistry or a related field, or a Staatsexamen in Veterinary Medicine. The PhD project will involve a variety of methods including molecular biology techniques, biochemical and immunological methods as well as animal experiments. Thus, previous experience in one or more of these fields is considered a plus. Additional requirements are an above-average university degree, very good English language skills as well as a high motivation.
