OPEN POSITION FOR A PH.D. CANDIDATE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
Quantitative Modelling of Systems
Bundeswehr University Munich
Department of Computer Science
We offer a fully funded position as a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Computer Science of Bundeswehr University Munich. The duration is initially 24 months, in case of good progress it will be extended accordingly.
Our research activities are in the area of modelling and evaluation of computer-based systems. We generate quantitative models and analyse them, in order to determine the interesting properties such as performance measures and dependability measures.
In our research and teaching activities, we focus on techniques and tools for improving mainly the non-functional properties of systems. To this aim, we combine stochastic modelling and formal methods
for concurrency. The Ph.D. candidate will develop and apply novel methods and tools for modelling and analysing such systems.
A very good Masters degree (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics or a related discipline is required. Very good knowledge of mathematics, foundations of computer science and software development is necessary. Very good language skills (spoken and written) in German and English are a prerequisite. Prior experience with stochastic modelling, model checking or operations research is
advantageous, but not absolutely necessary. The successful candidate should be motivated to work within a small but dynamic team.
