Beschreibung: 3D ultrasound tomography is an innovative method for breast cancer diagnosis developed at KIT. The advantages are the radiation-free measurement of three tissue properties for the diagnosis as well as their 3D representation. After first promising clinical studies, a large multi-center study in the People's Republic of China will now be carried out in cooperation with an industrial partner. For this purpose, within three years, several customized devices are built and the necessary firmware and control software are developed. At the same time CE marking, medical approval in China and industrial series production are being prepared.

As part of your work, you work on the development of the assembly and connection technology of USCT ultrasound transducer systems for small series production. In doing so, you investigate the current state of production of the transducer systems and develop concepts for their optimization. You also take on the development and optimization of the sub-steps of small series production and carry out tests on the durability, aging behavior and yield of the transducers. Furthermore, you are responsible for the development of test methods and test environments for checking the sub-steps of transducer system manufacturing. This position offers the opportunity for a doctoral dissertation. The position is suitable under certain conditions also as part-time position.

Personal qualification

You have completed a university degree (diploma (uni)/master) in the field of electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics, mechanical engineering or physics with experience in the field of quality control and documentation. In addition, knowledge in the field of assembly and connection technology (bonding, adhesive techniques) as well as in dealing with industrial and product machines of the electrical industry (wafer saws, pick and placers, needle guards, screen printers, plasma cleaners, brazing furnaces, vacuum chambers or microscopes) are required. Knowledge in the field of sensor and transducer development, antenna design as well as chip and PCB and electrical design are beneficial. Very good knowledge of English is obligatory. Knowledge of German and/or Mandarin complete your profile.
