Beschreibung: PhD Position in Experimental Biophysics

Interested candidates are invited to apply for a PhD position in experimental biophysics available in the research group of Prof. Karin Hauser at the University of Konstanz, Germany. The PhD position is dedicated to study protein-membrane interactions by time-resolved infrared spectroscopy. Biological photoreceptors will be in the focus of this project. The photoreaction steps can be observed by vibrational spectroscopy and the influence of the membrane environment on the protein’s functionality will be explored. Structural and functional dynamics will be analyzed in the sub-millisecond time domain and in molecular detail by applying laser spectroscopy and step-scan FTIR.

We are looking for a highly motivated student who has successfully completed a master in (bio)physics or chemistry (with physical chemistry as major). Experience in spectroscopic techniques/laser spectroscopy/optics, and interest in biophysical research and interdisciplinary work are expected. Further requirements are the ability to work independently and in a team, as well as good English language proficiency.
