Research Assistant (PhD student).
Salary and benefits are according to a public service position in Germany, pay scale E 13 TV-H.
The advertised position is part of a DFG (German Research Foundation) third party funded project in which the applicant will study the biology of peroxisomes in unicellular algae. To this end, molecular and cell biological as well as bioinformatic methods will be applied. The work encompasses algae cell culture as well as a multitude of molecular biology methods (DNA-/RNA-isolation, molecular cloning, fluorescent marker-based protein localization, pro-tein analytics, microscopy etc.), and methods of comparative genomics and protein targeting prediction.
The third-party funded project provides the opportunity for project-related scientific work. By means of a supervision agreement, it can be ensured that the results obtained are available outside of working hours for one's own scientific qualification. The time limit is based on § 2 Abs. 1 Nr. 1 WissZeitVG.The applicant for the position requires a Master, Diploma or similar degree in biology (molecular biology skills are mandatory), fluency in English, good communication skills and interest in academic research. We expect a team player with scien-tific enthusiasm for the topic/project. Previous experience in molecular biological research involving microalgae as well as basic knowledge of bioinformatics and confocal microscopy are beneficial.
