Beschreibung: A PhD position in the Neuroplasticity and Rhythms Group within a German-USA collaborative research project is open. The PhD project is focussed on electrophysiological processes of the neocortex, hippocampus and thalamus involved in memory consolidation of rodents during sleep. Behavioral tests, electrophysiological recording, exogenous stimulation and optogenetic techniques are to be employed. We are looking for professional and competent support to start on January 15th 2019.
Your profile:
Students with a degree in neuroscience, biology or medicine are encouraged to apply. Candidates should be highly motivated, be able to work independently, and have a strong interest in neuroscience and electrophysiological methods in freely moving animals. Experience in optogenetic and/or behavioral studies in rodents, is beneficial. We gladly consider also students of engineering, computer science or physics with a
corresponding experimental background with freely moving rodents. For greater independent activity German language skills are beneficial.
What we offer:
This is a fixed-term position for 1 year. Average weekly working time is 50% of a full-time position (currently 19,25 hours per week). Working part-time is possible. An extension to at least 3-years and increase in weekly working hours are possible. Salary will be, depending on qualifications, according to the German salary scale 13 TV-L. The preferred starting date is January 15th 2019.
