Beschreibung: Within the Leibniz Graduate School on Aging in Jena the Membrane Trafficking Group invites applications for a PhD student position (TV-L E13/2).

The FLI provides an international and dynamic research environment with highly interacting groups. . Our group is working on the intracellular transport of membrane proteins. The thesis project will be on either a) molecular mechanisms of axonopathy-causing mutations in ER-shaping proteins or b) molecular mechanisms of ER-export.

We are looking for motivated students who like to work on a cell biological project using a variety of different methods including cloning and expression of fusion proteins, immunofluorescence microscopy including super resolution microscopy, biochemistry (Western Blot, immunoprecipitation) and more. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in biochemistry or cell biology or neurobiology. Experience in at least some of the mentioned methods is highly desirable.

The FLI is excellently equipped with state-of-the-art facilities like proteomics, functional genomics, imaging (with confocal, video, TIRF, FLIM, FCS microscopy).

A position in a well-equipped research group of a high quality institute for age research, which harbors several state-of-the-art facilities. Our work is embedded in the Beutenberg Campus, an interdisciplinary base for innovative research.

The PhD position will be integrated in our Leibniz Graduate School on Aging and Age Related Diseases

The contract conditions and the salary will be according to the collective labor agreement for public service employees of the Federal State of Germany (TV-L E13 50-65%).
