Beschreibung: In Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), RF coils are used both for exciting the spins and to detect the signal induced from the spins. An efficient, optimal RF coil enhances the signal to noise ratio tremendously. Recently we have invented a novel MRI system for implementing the “Concurrent Excitation and Acquisition (CEA)” concept, where the MR signal is excited and detected simultaneously. CEA facilitates a more time- and power-efficient MRI, and can also detect signal from tissue with extremely short relaxation time such as bones, myelinated neurons, etc.
In this master’s project, a linearly polarized volume coil will be tuned at 123 MHz as a transmit coil and a two-element receive coil array will be constructed to acquire MRI signal simultaneously. Additionally, the interface and decoupling circuits will be constructed.
Methoden: The successful candidate should have an interest and initial experience/background in:
• Electromagnetics
• Radio frequency electronics
• Soldering
