Beschreibung: Luxembourg is a dynamic multicultural country in the heart of Europe with a strong research culture supported by important financial and organisational resources. It offers state-of-the-art facilities and an excellent training environment for early-stage researchers, in particular in life sciences.

CANBIO is a competitive PhD training program for a total of 18 PhD candidates, supported by the research funding scheme PRIDE of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). The CANBIO doctoral training unit provides structured PhD training in cancer biology and aims to bridge fundamental cancer research with clinically-oriented applications.

The positions is funded up to 4 years with fixed-term contract. Start-date: April 2019

The research-intensive program tackles next-generation cancer biology covering molecular mechanisms of tumour progression, treatment resistance and biomarker discovery. It focuses on tumour escape mechanisms, thus addressing the increasingly important clinical problem of tumour recurrence and drug resistance. The program includes transferable skill training, support in career development, scientific lectures by international speakers and annual PhD retreats.

The PhD candidate will conduct his/her research project at the Life Sciences Research Unit(https://wwwen.uni.lu/research/fstc/life_sciences_research_unit) of the University of Luxembourg (https://wwwen.uni.lu/) (Campus Belval, Esch- sur-Alzette).
He/She will be enrolled at the doctoral school of the University of Luxembourg.

The program will allow the selected candidate to obtain a PhD degree in life sciences with a focus on melanoma.
