Beschreibung: This project aims at identifying the effect of epigenetic modifications of lamins, a type of intermediate filaments, on structural and functional regulation of the nucleus. The project is part of the CIBSS cluster of excellence and it will be implemented jointly with the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics. You will use electron microscopic tomography to investigate nuclear 3D nano-structure, and nanoindentation to characterize nuclear mechanical properties.

Sonstiges: We expect self-motivated students who hold (or are about to complete) an excellent MSc in a discipline relevant to biomedical research, such as biophysics, bioengineering, physiology, cell biology;
demonstrable hands-on expertise in at least one of the following areas: mechano-biology, molecular biology, electrophysiology, electron microscopy, confocal/multiphoton microscopy;
excellent communication skills in English (B2 level)
