Beschreibung: The Ph.D. project will investigate the underlying mechanisms regulating the immunosuppressive profile of testicular macrophages by specifically analyzing a potential role of cellular metabolites, with the aim to investigate whether cellular metabolites could functionally polarize testicular macrophages to an M2 macrophage phenotype.
Methoden: a) To investigate if the metabolic profile of testicular macrophages plays a role in maintaining the alternative macrophage phenotype.

b) Characterization of the unknown metabolic profile of testicular macrophages by extracellular flux analysis using a XF-96 Flux Analyzer (Seahorse analyses).

c) Determine the metabolic intermediates using an RNA-Seq and LC/MS-based approach.

d) Analysis of inflammatory chemokines and cytokines using RNA-Seq, qRT-PCR and ELISA

e) Analysis of cell culture and animal models

• Master’s or an equivalent degree in the field of Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biological Science, Medicine or related fields.
• Provide a platform to learn, understand, think and conduct the experiment independently, and how to master the most advanced techniques in immunology and molecular/cell biology
• Strong interest in immunology/macrophage biology and motivated about research lab work
• Strong communication and writing skill in English.
• Experience in working with animals (FELASA B certificate) is desirable.
• Experience in immunology and basic immunological techniques such as flow cytometry and cell culture techniques will be will be given priority.
