Beschreibung: At the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Medicine, Julius-Bernstein-Institute of Physiology is, from June 1st, 2020, on 36-month temporary position for a
Doctoral Research Fellow (registration number: 7-015/20-D)available in full time (65 %)
The remuneration is paid depending on the assignment of tasks and fulfillment of the personal requirements up to the fee group E 13 TV-L.
The project is DFG-funded and aims to evaluate the impact of the mineralocorticoid receptor and its endogenous ligand, aldosterone, in the development of liver cirrhosis. The PhD-student will work in cooperation between the Julius Bernstein institute of physiology and the clinics for internal medicine I, AG molecular hepatology.

Methoden: Conditions:
• Completed studies (MSc.) in the field of life sciences, veterinary medicine or medicine
• English skills
• Ability and willingness to participate in animal experiments
Desired knowledge and skills:
• Knowledge in the physiology/pathophysiology of the liver and the mineralocorticoid receptor
• Knowledge in the area of signal transduction and control of gene expression
• Experiences with molecular biology and protein biochemistry methods (quantitative PCR, Western Blot, ELI-SA,RNA and DNA extraction methods, reportergene assays, siRNA interference)
• Experience with cell culture techniques (including cultivation of cell lines and production of primary cultures, transmitted light and fluorescence microscopy) and the phenotyping of cell types
• Experiences with animal-experimental studies of the liver in vivo (measurement of portal, sinusoidal and arterial pressure) or ex vivo (Mulvany myography, pressure myography, histomorphometry, etc.) are desirable but not required.
Work Tasks:
• Participation in a DFG funded project on the importance of the mineralocorticoid receptor for the development and progression of liver cirrhosis.
• Implementation of experiments with rodents
• Collection of functional vascular parameters in vivo and ex vivo
• Histological and molecular biology studies on tissues
• Studies on signal transduction and gene expression on primary cell cultures and cell lines
• Data analysis, literature research and preparation of manuscripts
