Beschreibung: Post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) is a chronic, progressive disorder of the joints such as the knee, hip, and ankle that develops after trauma and affects people of all ages. It can lead to cartilage and bone damage and, ultimately, joint destruction, causing pain and even disability. The pathogenesis of PTOA is not fully understood but recent studies show that inflammation occurring immediately after joint injury plays a key role in its onset. My group uses inflammatory models of PTOA to investigate the use of biomaterials that release anti-inflammatory molecules with the aim of controlling the inflammatory response in PTOA and preventing PTOA.

This project focuses on developing basic design principles for steering anti-inflammatory pathways, keeping a potential clinical application for cartilage replacement or regeneration in mind.

Within this scheme we can offer various subprojects for a thesis project.
The project will be fully supervised to ensure success of your thesis project.

• Statistical analyses
