Beschreibung: Your Job:
The criteria for state-of-the-art electro­chemical energy storage continues to challenge researchers to identify both new materials and processes that can increase energy and power densities as well as decrease costs and charging times. Most of these tasks could be achieved by shifting to an all solid-state battery technology that utilizes metallic lithium or sodium as the anode. In this configuration, good physical contact between the grains of all solid materials is needed and electro­chemically stable interfaces that allow fast ionic transport across the grains are crucial. A promising approach to modulate the mechanical properties of the solid electrolyte is to incorporate polymer-based electrolytes, however systematic studies on interfacial ionic transport in such composite systems, especially when considering sulfide-based solid electrolytes, is lacking.

Your specific tasks will include the following:

Preparation of solid electrolyte-polymer composites and thorough analysis based on spectroscopic and physicochemical methods
Electrochemical characterization of such composites (ionic conductivity measurements, DC polarization, half- and full-cell solid-state battery assembly and cycling, electro­chemical stability via cyclic voltammetry)
Exploratory solution-based preparation of such composites
Methoden: Your Profile:
Master degree in Chemistry or a related Natural Sciences discipline
Experience with the synthesis and handling of materials in inert atmospheres (glove box and Schlenk line) is beneficial
Knowledge of time-domain electro­chemical characterization methods, e.g. cyclic voltammetry and chrono­potentiometry are needed
Experience with frequency-domain electro­chemical methods is a great plus
Very good knowledge of English language, both spoken and written, and some proficiency in German
Willingness to participate in graduate teaching and lab work
Commitment to collaborate with internal and external project partners
Strong cooperation and communication skills
Structured and independent working ethic
