Beschreibung: The Feil Lab (Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry, University of Tübingen, Germany) has an opening for a PhD student position (65% TV-L 13, initially for 3 years). We work on the intracellular signaling molecule cGMP, which is increasingly recognized as a central biochemical regulator and drug target in humans. The project is based on a recent discovery in our lab (Dhayade et al., Cell Reports 14:2599) and studies the role of cGMP in tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment.

The project is embedded in the recently funded DFG Research Training Group “cGMP: From Bedside to Bench (GRK 2381)” (see project P1 for details). The GRK 2381 includes multidisciplinary projects covering biochemistry, biophysics, cell signaling, neurobiology, pharmacology, and physiology and aims for critical new insights into cGMP’s role in cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders. Participating PhD students will benefit from being part of a structured qualification program with workshops, summer schools, soft skill courses, and international networking including an internship in Boston.
Methoden: The project involves analyses at the molecular, cellular and whole organism level, and it uses state-of-the-art methods (e.g. transgenic mouse models and imaging technology) to "watch" biochemical processes and cell behavior in real time in living cells and tissues.
Anfangsdatum: 21. Oktober 2020
Geschätzte Dauer: 3 years
Bezahlung: 65% TV-L 13
Papers: Dhayade et al., Cell Reports 14:2599
Sonstiges: The ideal candidate should hold a Master's degree in the life sciences and be interested to work at the interface of biochemistry and biomedicine. Experience in one or more of the following areas would be useful: biochemistry, cell signaling, tumor biology, cardiovascular physiology, transgenic mouse models, optical imaging.

How to apply? Please send your application (CV, letter of motivation, Master transcript with grades) by e-mail to Prof. Dr. Robert Feil (robert.feil@uni-tuebingen.de). Indicate “cGMP & Cancer” in the subject line and give the names and e-mail addresses of two referees. Thank you!

Disabled candidates will be given preference over other equally qualified applicants. The University of Tübingen seeks to raise the number of women in research and teaching and therefore urges qualified women to apply.

Application deadline: 30 November 2020
