Beschreibung: The Feil Lab (Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry, University of Tübingen, Germany) has an opening for a PhD student position (65% TV-L 13, initially for 3 years). We work on the intracellular signaling molecule cGMP, which is increasingly recognized as a central biochemical regulator and drug target in humans. The project is based on a recent discovery in our lab (Wen et al., Nat Commun 9:4301) and studies the role of cGMP in platelet mechanobiology.

The project is embedded in the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center / Transregio “Platelets (TR 240)“ (see project A05 for details). The TR 240 includes multidisciplinary projects covering biochemistry, biophysics, cell signaling, physiology, and pharmacology and aims for critical new insights into the complex and insufficiently understood functions of platelets.
Methoden: The project involves analyses at the molecular, cellular and whole organism level. It uses state-of-the-art methods (e.g. transgenic mouse models and imaging technology) to "watch" biochemical processes and cell behavior in real time in living cells and tissues.
Anfangsdatum: 21. Oktober 2020
Geschätzte Dauer: 3 years
Bezahlung: 65% TV-L 13
Papers: Wen et al., Nat Commun 9:4301
Sonstiges: The ideal candidate should hold a Master's degree in the life sciences and be interested to work at the interface of biochemistry and biomedicine. Experience in one or more of the following areas would be useful: biochemistry, cell signaling, cardiovascular biology, transgenic mouse models, optical imaging.

How to apply? Please send your application (CV, letter of motivation, Transcripts with grades) by e-mail to Prof. Dr. Robert Feil (robert.feil@uni-tuebingen.de). Indicate “cGMP & Platelets” in the subject line and give the names and e-mail addresses of two referees. Thank you!

Disabled candidates will be given preference over other equally qualified applicants. The University of Tübingen seeks to raise the number of women in research and teaching and therefore urges qualified women to apply.

Application deadline: 30 November 2020
