At the MSS, we investigate the multiscale physics of particulate systems. The MSS hosts an interdisciplinary research team with a unique combination of scientists working numerically, theoretically and experimentally.
topic:
The aim of the project is to derive optimal strategies for the raking process in powder bed 3D printing by means of DEM simulations. This includes the investigation of the flow behavior of fine powders under consideration of realistic material parameters as well as realistic particle shapes and system geometries. The required large-scale particle simulations will be conducted in close collaboration with experimental work at the FAU. The project is embedded in the stimulating environment of the Collaborative Research Center 814 “Additive Manufacturing” of the German Research Foundation.

qualification:
- master’s degree in physics or related
- background in computational physics
- programming skills (e.g. C++, Python, Matlab)
- experience in particle simulations (DEM)
