The Charles University is one of the oldest European universities and a
striving hub of science and education in the very heart of Europe. More
than 50,000 students and 4000 academic staff members are working and
living in the buzzing hub that is Prague, Czech Republic's capital.
Within the Plankton Evolvability work group at the Institute of
Geology and Palaeontology of the Charles University's Faculty of
Science, we are looking for a dedicated Ph.D. student, offering you to
work on an exciting project: Environmental adaptation of the marine
phytoplankton and its impact on the marine carbon pump:

You will be a member of an engaging work group with an
interdisciplinary background in micropalaeontology, geology,
geochemistry, and ecology/evolution and work in collaboration with
several internationally recognized colleagues from other research
institutes.
We offer you the opportunity to engage in morphometric, geochemical,
and systematic work in the marine plankton, and to gain expertise in
ecological modelling and quantitative analyses throughout your Ph.D.
The specifics of the project are flexible and will be adjusted to
the candidates demonstrated talents and interests. The position
requires an M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in geology, biology, or a
related field. Existing experience in micropalaeontology/ecology
and knowledge of the open statistical computing language R will be
a surplus.
