Beschreibung: PhD Position in Environmental Chemistry

Using compound specific isotope analysis to elucidate sorption and transformation processes of polyphosphonate chelating agents

We are looking for a PhD student to study the environmental fate of polyphosphonates, an emerging group of environmental contaminants. As concentrations of these chelating agents are increasing in German rivers, we seek to get a comprehensive understanding of their environmental fate and to develop strategies reducing their overall load in receiving surface waters. To this end, cutting-edge analytical techniques will be applied in laboratory studies including liquid chromatography/isotope ratio mass spectrometry (LC/IRMS), liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) and various mineral characterization techniques.

The PhD candidate will work within an excellent research environment on a highly topical issue as member of an interdisciplinary research team. We encourage applications of students from chemistry, environmental sciences, geoecology or related programs.

Start date will be mid 2021. Employment (TVL E13, 65%, 3 years) will be arranged by the University of Tübingen. • Strong background/interest in Environmental Chemistry and interdisciplinary research

• Interest in application, maintenance and development of high-end analytical techniques

• Excellent communication skills including command of English and German language
