The Institute of Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology (IMISE) in an institution of the Faculty of
Medicine at the University of Leipzig and has expertise in biometrics, epidemiology, clinical trials, medical
informatics, hospital information systems, genetic statistics and modeling, and ontology.
Challenges
 Independent data analysis, processing and model building
 Application of machine learning or artificial intelligence (AI) methods
 Scientific publication of the results
 Interdisciplinary working environment for mathematical modeling of biological and epidemiological
processes in combination with the use of modern AI methods

Your Profile
 Completed academic degree (M.Sc./Diploma/Magister) University degree (M.Sc./Diplom/Magister)
in the fields of (bio)computer science, (bio)mathematics, (bio)physics or comparable fields of study
 Good knowledge of statistics
 knowledge in the field of mathematical modeling (differential equations, stochastic processes)
 Basic knowledge in the field of infectiology is advantageous
 Knowledge of the statistical program R or other programming languages (Unix, Python, C++ or
similar)
 Ability to work independently and in a team
 Good command of written and spoken English
With its more than 600-year tradition, the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig is one of the largest

at the University of Leipzig and serves as a training center for approximately 3,200 students of human
medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and midwifery.
