The Visual Analytics group at the University of Rostock (https://vca.informatik.uni-rostock.de/) is looking for three new team members. Join an exciting and stimulating research environment, pushing the boundaries of international Visual Analytics and Human-Data Interaction research!
*) 2 x Research Assistant Visual Analytics (PhD student or PostDoc w/ teaching):
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with interest in data visualization. You should have a background in visualization, human-computer interaction, and/or computer graphics and very good programming skills. You will conduct research on novel visualization methods with considerable freedom on the specific topic and support teaching at the Chair of Visual Analytics, primarily in the Master’s program “Visual and Intelligent Systems” (solid German needed). Current research projects are related to visual storytelling and immersive analytics in medical contexts.
Apply here: https://t1p.de/prvdx
*) 1 x Project Assistant Human-Data Interaction (PhD student w/o teaching):
We are looking for a talented individual who is passionate about interactive visual data analysis, especially the smooth and efficient interaction with visual representations of data. You should have a background in visualization, human-computer interaction, and/or computer graphics, as well as strong programming skills. You will work on the Project “iVMorph – Interactive Visual Metamorphosis for Multi-view Data Exploration”, whose goal is to link multiple heterogeneous visual representations of multi-faceted data via smooth animated transitions.

The Visual Analytics group (https://vcg.informatik.uni-rostock.de/en/) is engaged in the interactive visualization and visual analysis of abstract and spatial data. We use the latest technologies and continuously expand them, including:
*) VR/AR/MR in the field of Immersive Analytics,
*) GPU and cloud computing for visualizing large datasets, and
*) AI (e.g., Large Language Models - LLMs) for intelligent user interfaces and visual storytelling.
Our research spans from fundamental research to diverse application areas, including biology, medicine, climate research, and marine ecology. We combine sound theoretical approaches with practical applications to generate a wide range of scientific insights and real-world solutions.
Your creativity and dedication are highly valued here, and we provide significant flexibility for the individual design and thematic orientation of your doctoral or habilitation project.
As part of the Institute for Visual & Analytic Computing (https://vac.uni-rostock.de/en/), we offer a friendly, helpful, team-oriented, and inclusive working environment with a highly motivated faculty. Furthermore, we have an extensive international network that opens up various opportunities for research collaborations and overseas stays.
