Beschreibung: We are looking for a highly motivated early career researcher who enjoys collaborating and has a strong interest in one or more of the following fields: plant-insect interactions, chemical ecology, conservation biology, entomology, biodiversity monitoring, evolutionary ecology, global change biology or agroecology. A particular focus on trait-matching of plant-insect interactions is anticipated for this position. We offer access to our group’s state-of-the art facilities for field work, greenhouse and lab experiments. Your tasks at a glance:
•Opportunity for own academic and didactic qualification, activities in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
•Teaching duties according to the teaching obligation ordinance of the state of Hessen
•Design and conduct field and laboratory experiments on the ecology of insect-plant interactions
•Planning and implementation of hypothesis-based literature review and synthesis
•Co-supervision of bachelor and/or teacher training theses
•Presentation and publication of research results
Methoden: Our group studies how biodiversity dynamics at different spatial and temporal scales arise from the management of agricultural landscapes and influence the provision and stability of ecosystem services in farmland (see https://www.uni-giessen.de/en/faculties/f08/departments/tsz/animal-ecology/index?set_language=en). Our work is largely motivated by the need to combine biodiversity conservation with crop production in landscapes under global change. To address our research objectives, we use methods ranging from field ecology, chemical and molecular ecology, to statistical and process-based modelling. Our offer to you:
•Collaboration in a young, dynamic and strongly international research group as well as with excellent international and interdisciplinary research groups
• A varied job with flexible working hours
•Free use of local public transport (LandesTicket Hessen)
•More than 100 training seminars, workshops and e-learning opportunities per year for personal development, as well as a wide range of health and sports activities.
